Experimental Tuned Mass Damper Based on Eddy Currents Damping Effect and Adjustable Stiffness

Résumé

— An experimental Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) is proposed in order to damp vibrations induced by external excitations. This TMD is based on the Eddy Currents damping effect and is designed in such a way as to allow a manually adjustment of its own stiffness and inherent damping. The TMD's modal parameters estimation is therefore carried out by applying the Continuous Wavelet Transform to the signals obtained experimentally. The influence of the manual adjustment of the TMD's components on its dynamical properties is then studied.
